The health benefits of probiotics

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive system. We usually think of bacteria as something that causes diseases. But your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy. Probiotics are naturally found in your body. You can also find them in some foods and supplements. It’s only been since about the mid-1990s that people have wanted to know more about probiotics and their health benefits. Doctors often suggest them to help with digestive problems. And because of their newfound fame, you can find them in everything from yogurt to chocolate. How Do They Work? Researchers are trying to figure out exactly how probiotics work. Here are some of the ways they may keep you healthy: When you lose “good” bacteria in your body (like after you take antibiotics, for example), probiotics can help replace them. They can lower the amount of “bad” bacteria in your system that can cause infections or other problems. They can help balance your “good” and “bad” bacteria to keep your body working like it should. What do they do? Probiotics help move food through your gut. Researchers are still trying to figure out which are best for certain health problems. Some common conditions they treat are: Irritable bowel syndrome Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) Infectious diarrhea (caused by viruses, bacteria, or parasites) Antibiotic-related diarrhea There is also some research to show they ease the symptoms of non-stomach-related problems. For example, some people say they have helped with: Skin conditions, like eczema...

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

There has been an influx of clients coming into our clinic that have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, needing some extra help. Below is some information for anyone that feels they may be suffering from Chronic Fatigue or knows someone who needs help. What is Chronic Fatigue? Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a debilitating disorder characterized by intense fatigue that cannot be cured with sleep. Mental and physical activities may cause your symptoms to worsen. When your fatigue cannot be linked to a specific cause, your doctor might classify your condition as CFS. If you have chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) you are likely to feel very tired, very often, even if you have not been active. You may also have a host of other symptoms. There seems to be no single cause of CFS, although viral infection may trigger it. Glandular fever virus is a prime suspect, but there is no evidence to prove this. It is clear that prolonged tiredness after a viral infection may acquire Psychological overtones. The most common symptom is ongoing, unexplained tiredness which may be accompanied by headaches, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, difficulty sleeping and processing information, muscle pain, joint pain or a sore throat. This tiredness may be your only symptom, or you may also have any or all of the other symptoms. Some people experience mild symptoms, and others more intense symptoms. What causes Chronic Fatigue? The cause of CFS is unknown. Researchers speculate that viruses, hypotension, immune impairment, and hormonal problems could all be contributing factors. Sometimes, CFS develops after a viral infection. Viruses that might possibly be linked to CFS include: human herpes...

Why we love Chlorophyll

Chlorophyll, also known as ‘Plant blood’ is a naturally occurring molecule that gives plants their green color. Chlorophyll is also the molecule that is responsible for facilitating one of the most incredibly miraculous processes on earth – the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process that converts sunlight energy, water and carbon dioxide into our primary source of fuel – glucose! All animals and humans obtain their life-sustaining energy supply from plants, making photosynthesis to be (one of) the sources of all life. Chlorophyll is a chemoprotein commonly known for its contribution to the green pigmentation in plants, and is related to protoheme, the red pigment of blood! And what are the benefits you ask? well they are endless, but below are just a few of the many; Cleanses and oxygenates and builds the blood Alkalizes the body Promotes healthy intestinal flora Wound-healing properties Protection from Cancer Been shown to help skin infections High in amino acid Improves liver function When ingested, liquid chlorophyll can actually help to do the job of hemoglobin (hemoglobin is so vital to the health of our blood – in fact, blood is approx 75% hemoglobin). It helps to rebuild and replenish our red blood cells, boosting our energy and increasing our well-being almost instantly! We suggest that if you want to go down the healthy Alkaline path, you must incorporate liquid Chlorophyll into your daily routine!
